A personal journey into surrender, self-healing, and the power of listening inward.

The most disorienting part of navigating a major life shift isn’t changing careers, or even changing your lifestyle.
It’s learning to trust your intuition.
At first, it feels like a stranger whispering from somewhere unfamiliar—unannounced, unverified, and that’s hard to interpret. Especially if you’ve spent most of your life ignoring it, rationalizing it away, or defaulting to logic over inner knowing.
We’re taught to trust what we can measure.
But my transformation began when I leaned into what I could feel.
For a long time, my intuition showed up as a simple gut reaction. If something felt off, I’d walk away. If it felt right, I’d lean in. No context. No explanation. I was functioning on instinct.
But over time, those gut checks evolved into something deeper:
Blocks of thought that came from seemingly nowhere.
Sudden, inspired visions that offered a glimpse of what was possible.
Messages that couldn’t be explained—but also couldn’t be ignored.
One of those visions led me to explore sacred medicine.
I didn’t know what I was looking for.
I just knew my spirit was trying to get through—and I was finally willing to let it lead.
The Journey That Found Me
A couple of years ago, after speaking at a conference in Egypt, someone asked me what was next.
My answer was simple: “Surrender.”
She asked, “What does that mean?”
I said, “It means my spirit wants to do something, and I don’t know what it is. But I’m done trying to lead with my mind. I want my spirit to guide me. And I think I’m going to need a sacred ceremony to get clarity.”
Minutes later, I was on the phone with someone hosting a retreat in Costa Rica. That’s where my journey with sacred medicine began.
Since then, I’ve sat in ceremony with several sacred medicines—all of which offered profound insight into my soul, my purpose, and my patterns.
Healing with the Medicine of the Earth
The Mayans have a powerful metaphor for human existence:
- The body is the carriage.
- The heart is the horse.
- The mind is the driver.
- The soul is the passenger—holding the map.
The goal isn’t just to move forward—it’s to clear the carriage, calm the horse, quiet the driver, and listen to the passenger.
That’s what sacred medicine does. It quiets the noise so you can hear your truth.
Within Healing in a Heartbeat: Sacred Medicines, I offer five-minute introductions to several sacred medicines that supported me in this process:
- Kambo for purifying the body
- Cacao for opening the heart
- Ayahuasca for confronting the ego
- San Pedro for connecting with the Earth
- Bufo for encountering the Infinite
Each one met me where I was—and showed me a version of myself I had yet to meet.
From Whispers to Wisdom
Today, the messages I receive aren’t vague gut feelings. They’re clear, grounded insights that come through meditation, journaling, and stillness.
Following them feels a bit like driving my Tesla:
The doors open as I approach. The car comes when I call it. The AC filters the smoke so I can breathe. All I have to do is stay present and stay connected- keep my eyes on the road and hands on the steering wheel.
That’s what it’s like when you let your spirit lead.
It doesn’t mean life gets easy.
But it does get clearer.
More aligned.
Less forced.
It’s the path of least resistance. The one your soul already knows.
My Invitation to You
If you’ve been feeling like something deeper is trying to get your attention—this is your sign to pause and listen.
You may not know the next step.
But you do have to be still enough to hear what your soul has been trying to say.
Surrender isn’t giving up. It’s tuning in.
And sometimes, it’s the most powerful thing you can do.
